SUGGESTED USE: Great as a sermon enhancer, worship service or youth service when teaching on purpose, choices, destiny. Can be used as a conversation starter for a bible class, or destiny conference.

SYNOPSIS: Melanie, a seventeen year-old is starting to feel that she is an adult now and knows more than her parents.  Her disobedience has gotten her in trouble.  However, her father is reminded that he too, made choices as a teen that set him on the opposite path of his purpose until God put a supervisor in his life that  provoked Edward into his purpose.  Edward shares with his daughter that the decisions we make today affect our tomorrows.

MELANIE(blows loudly again) Here we go again. Can we please just forget it?

EDWARD:  – Forget it! Melanie, you deliberately disobeyed us and set out to deceive us.  How many times do I have to tell you that your choices today can affect your opportunities tomorrow?

MELANIE(shrugs her shoulders) You all just blow everything out of proportion.

GRANDMA: That’s right, precious.  God’s plan for your life is carefully weaved and when we decide to pull at the thread, it can unravel on us—outside of God’s will.

EDWARD:  Melanie, when I was your age I thought I was grown and knew more about what was right for me than Mom and Pops.  I dropped out of school in the twelfth grade.  Just as disrespectful to my parents and any other person who tried to tell me what to do. I was rebellious and after I dropped out of school Dad told me to get my rebellious self out of his house.  I was so mad at him and I was going to prove to him how wrong he and everyone else was.  I was a man and I was going to show them.  Isn’t that right Momma?

EDWARD: Melanie, all we are saying is, Mom and Pops knew I was not doing what I was born to do or what I loved to do.  I was their first-born and they had saved money for my college tuition but I was too hardheaded to even finish high school.  I decided to work my plan instead of allowing God’s plan to be manifested in my life.  Thankfully, I eventually yielded to God’s plan, went to college and graduated before Pops died.  I had caused him much pain and much joy.  His last words to me was “Know that God’s purpose for your life, is bigger than anything you may face today.”  I’ve never forgotten that.
